Barbara Featherstone

Barbara is a founder member of Modus, she generally works in machine embroidery inspired by nature and the countryside. Her work is mostly land and seascapes in an Impressionist style. Having originally been a dressmaker at a couturier in Regent Street she has always been interested in textiles.
After bringing up a large family she has travelled extensively in Norway and is inspired by her own photographs of that area. Her childhood was spent in rural Norfolk surrounded by fields and lanes of wild flowers where, in those days, she was allowed to ramble freely picking wild flowers.
She also experiments with dyed silk and soluble fabric to make bowls which she decorates with machine stitching.
