Marion’s first love is painting and drawing after a Fine Art degree. She then uses abstract backgrounds in paper and fabric with small areas of stitching. She is constantly inspired by playing with colours whether it is coloured inks, acrylic paint, pastels or dyes and fabrics.
Drawing her inspiration directly from nature Marion’s work exhibits a love of vibrant colour and wide experimentation with embroidery techniques. Subjects range from an intimate study of a flower to a personal interpretation of a timeless landscape view. She says, “Growing up I was surrounded by the beauty of the West Country and the Somerset levels. I was always encouraged to observe the garden plants my mother is so passionate about”
She always carries a sketchbook or camera, both being useful as an ‘aide memoire’ when back in the studio where she says “the real fun begins!”
