Linda Walsh

In a previous life Linda was a maths teacher. Now she gets her kicks from pushing a needle and thread through fabric!
Her work is influenced by her travels in the East, also the Grand Canyon area of the USA and architecture from all over the world.

In1990 Linda went to live for a time in Singapore when she was able to take a break from teaching to study the culture and textiles of South East Asia. She gave some lectures on Ikat dyeing and beaded clothing at The National Museum. On returning she studied for City & Guilds in embroidery and design and enjoyed discovering new techniques and working on her own designs.

She loves patterns, both man made and natural and enjoys translating them into stitch. Since  October 2000 she has  begun a  second career as a textile artist, exhibiting both   in solo shows, with ‘Modus Embroidered Textiles’ group and with ‘Kaleidoscope’ a mixed media group. She belongs to the artists association that runs the Fountain Gallery in East Molesey where she has an annual solo show.
